Meet the amomii AMQ-R1, a USB-C smart soldering iron that heats to 300°C in about 8 seconds on its included 65W power supply. Set any temperature from 100 to 450°C (212 to 842°F) and watch temperature, voltage and wattage live on the OLED screen. Leave it resting for 5 minutes and it drops to a low standby temperature, then reheats as soon as you pick it up. Leave it longer and it switches itself off after a time you choose. The slim 67g pen-style body is easy to control, and the 2m cable gives you room to work anywhere on your bench.

It arrives ready to work, with a stand, brass tip cleaner, solder, flush cutter and power supply all in the box.

Then it gives you something worth soldering. Your first project is the amomii Script, a 3-key mechanical macro pad with a clickable volume dial, ice-blue key backlights and RGB underglow. The fiddly surface-mount parts are done at the factory, so you start straight away on beginner-friendly through-hole joints. As you go, you learn how LEDs, resistors and transistors really work.

When it's built, plug it in, open amomii Scribe in your browser, and turn each key into any shortcut, media control or macro you like. You get a great iron, plus a first build you'll use every day.
