Did You Know?
Did you know that Denis Mueller-Korenek currently holds the world bicycle landspeed record? She achieved this mark in 2019 on the Bonneville salt flats in Utah, USA, by riding her specially-made bicycle at an average speed of 183.9m mp/h, or almost 300 km/h! For comparison, the world famous Japanese bullet train travels between Tokyo and Osaka at only 285 km/h!

When to Celebrate
The date of June 3rd was adopted by the United Nations to be World Bicycle day in 2018. Despite searching around for the reason as to why this date was chosen, as of writing, we’ve been unable to come up with a satisfactory answer. If you think you may know, or if you have an interesting and fun idea why, leave a comment below and help us all get to the bottom of this mystery!
