Did You Know?

In the US, March 23 is National Puppy Day, a day to celebrate the joy and companionship puppies bring into our lives. But did you know that in Nepal, there’s a special festival called Kukur Tihar? During this celebration, even street puppies are treated like royalty! They receive flower garlands, tasty treats, and blessings, because they are believed to be loyal protectors and true friends. 🐾

When to Celebrate

National Puppy Day is celebrated every year on March 23 in the United States. Meanwhile, Kukur Tihar takes place during the Tihar festival in Nepal (usually in October or November, depending on the lunar calendar). No matter where you are in the world, it’s the perfect time to honor, love, and play with your furry friends!

The Toolkit

Foldy Faces 1 of 2, gather these supplies:

  • Cardstock or A4 Paper: (Use thicker paper for a stronger, more satisfying "flip!")

  • Colored Markers (Bring your puppy to life with your favorite colors!)

The Build: Step-by-Step

  1. Print and Prepare: Print your Foldy Faces template onto A4 paper or cardstock for best results. 


  2. Draw and Color Your Puppy: Draw your puppy and use colored markers to decorate your puppy’s face. Get creative—choose realistic colors or design your own playful style!

  3. First Fold: Fold the paper in half evenly to form the base of your Foldy Face.
  4. Second Fold: Fold the top section of the paper forward to create the opening mechanism for the mouth.


Your creation is complete! Now flip to open to reveal what’s hiding inside your puppy’s smile.



Success Checklist

  • Fold Check: Does the paper fold smoothly without bending or tearing?

  • Alignment: Do the top and bottom parts of the face line up when closed?

  • Reveal Test: Does the mouth open and close clearly to show the hidden design inside?

  • Color Check: Is your puppy fully colored and vibrant? Add extra details if you want more personality!

The Build: Step-by-Step 1.Print and Prepare: Print the templates on A4 paper and gather all necessary materials.-Tip: For best results, use thicker cardstock to improve durability and folding performance. 2.Precise Cutting: Carefully cut out the icons and attach the double-sided tape. -Safety Tip: ASK an ADULT for help when using cutting tools! 3.Create the first crease: Fold the paper along the black line.   4.Create the second crease: Fold the paper along the red line. 5.Form the structure: Align along the dotted lines, then stick the pink section onto the blue section. 6.Insert into slot: Insert the right tab into the left slot and secure it. Did You Know? Did you know that the wheel of cheese chosen for the annual competition is a Double Gloucester, and weighs up to 4kg, or almost 9 pounds? And while rolling down the hill, it has been clocked up to speeds of up to 112km/h, or 70mp/h? If the cheese were to hit you at that speed, the impact force would have roughly twice the power of a knockout punch from a professional heavyweight boxer, or about the same as being hit with a 5 gallon water jug thrown from a third floor balcony. When to Celebrate The Cooper’s Hill Cheese Rolling Festival occurs every year on the spring Bank Holiday in the United Kingdom, which falls on the last Monday of May annually. This day symbolically marks the transition from spring into summer. The Toolkit To build your Daring Downhill Descenders, gather these supplies: The amomii Template: [GET THE FREE TEMPLATE HERE] Cardstock or A4 Paper: (Use thicker paper for a stronger build) Glue or Double-Sided Tape Scissors or Craft Knife: (Safety First: Always ask an adult for assistance when using sharp cutting tools) 2 Marbles  A piece of Cardstock (for reinforcement) 2 Rubber Band The Build: Step-by-Step  Phase 1: Print & Cut  1.Print and Prepare: Print your template and cut out all the pieces.  Parts Needed (per character): 1 rectangular piece 2 capsule-shaped pieces: for extra durability, attach the capsule pieces onto cardstock backing before assembling. Phase 2: Build the Body 2. Fold the Base: Fold both sides of the rectangular piece as instructed to form the body structure. 3. Attach Capsules: Glue the capsule pieces onto both sides of the rectangle. This creates the outer shell. Phase 3: Add the Character 4. Attach Design: Glue the character design onto the structure—but don’t seal the entire body yet. Phase 4: Insert the Motion Mechanism 5. Add Marbles: Carefully place 2 marbles inside the body. These will create the rolling motion. 6. Seal the Body: Glue and close the remaining parts to fully enclose the marbles. Phase 5: Final Assembly 7. That means that it takes the nectar of over a billion flowers to feed the honey appetite of the American public every year! Put another way, that spoonful of honey drizzled over your morning yogurt represents the work of bees visiting over 96 thousand flowers! When to Celebrate World Bee Day is celebrated every year on May 20th. This date was chosen because it was on this date in 1734 that Anton Jansa, the father of beekeeping, was baptized. His exact date of his birth is unknown, so the date of his baptism was chosen instead. The Build: Step-by-Step 1.Print and Prepare:  Print the templates on A4 paper and gather all necessary materials.-Tip: Use thicker paper for a sturdier pull-tab. 2.Precise Cutting: Carefully cut out all icons and parts along the solid black lines.-Safety Tip: ASK an ADULT for help when using cutting tools! 3.Create a Tab: Fold three times along the dashed line.  4.Create the Wings: Put double-sided tape on the back of the wings.
