Did You Know?
Did you know that, to get one pound of honey, bees need to visit and collect nectar from almost two million flowers! That means that it takes the nectar of over a billion flowers to feed the honey appetite of the American public every year! Put another way, that spoonful of honey drizzled over your morning yogurt represents the work of bees visiting over 96 thousand flowers!

When to Celebrate
World Bee Day is celebrated every year on May 20th. This date was chosen because it was on this date in 1734 that Anton Jansa, the father of beekeeping, was baptized. His exact date of his birth is unknown, so the date of his baptism was chosen instead.
